22nd September 2002: I thought
Nationwide referees were bad - I've not seen a good Premiership one
yet.
These guys are supposed to be professionals! Elleray is supposed to
be one of the best but, come on, a tackle from behind is a foul, irrespective
of whether you play the ball or not, and irrespective of whether it's
in front of the Kop against Liverpool or not.
It may well be that we would have lost the game anyway had we gone
in front (or perhaps, more likely, missed the penalty), but you get
the feeling that refs look after the people they know. We're the new
nboys, we're not welcome. It seems to be a theme throughout the games
this season.
OK, enough of the sour grapes. We deserved to be beaten, maybe not
by two, but Liverpool were the better side. But listening to local
Scouse radio, they can't seem to make up their minds with views ranging
from "Liverpool should have won by five" to "they were crap, let's
sell Michael Owen"!! We'll have him. |
