5th January 2003: An easy win.
It's a nice to have this season. It was refreshing to see some clinical
finishing and it was a stress-less, if somewhat uninspiring, afternoon.
Dichio's finishing was the main plus point with Wallwork's performance
the main negative. I know we moan about McInnes's distribution but
Wallwork couldn't pass wind against Bradford; he was awful and how
he remained on the field for 85 minutes is somewhat of a mystery.
We win and I still moan - I suppose I should stop now. It is nice
to win easily even if it was less than impressive at times. The other
thing to say is that if you compare the Cup game with that magic day
at Valley Parade last season, although Bradford have undoubtedly got
worse, there is no question that the Baggies have come a long way
in a few difficult months in the top flight.
As for impending transfers - there's been lots of talk if no action
but to comment on some of the rumours. Christie - not sure but he
does have a good goalscoring record. Ferdinand - too old but knows
where the net is. Both these are poachers, one thing the Albion side
is in desperate need of. Sakiri - looked good for Macedonia but it
wouldn't be hard to improve on Clement this season. Beschastnykh -
no comment other than he'll make writing my reports no easier!
The sooner we start bringing them in, the better. We could do with
something from the next two games, however hard it may be.
