22nd April 2003: Playing for pride
is all we're doing now, and I thought Albion put in a good showing
against Spurs. I'm sure Spurs haven't played as well as they did in
the second half all season, there've probably beein a few more showings
like the first half.
That's the difference in quality. Spurs "did an Albion" and had a
poor half and a good half, but one moment of quality coupled with
a defensive lapse and they go in at half time buoyed up. I'm sure
Hoddle was saying "we've got outta jail here guys" because Albion
were easily the better side before the break. The second half was
much tighter as Albion continued to play well as Spurs raised their
game, and the quality told again.
We can all see why we're going down - lack of quality - although if
we'd had the ability to pull out our best when it mattered (i.e. Bolton,
West Ham, Blues, etc.), we'd still be in with a chance.
