17th January 2004: It's been a
busy week at the Hawthorns. Roberts was recalled from Portsmouth to
be sold to Wigan, Kinsella came in from Aston Villa, Dichio went on
loan to Millwall and then Dobie got injured in a tackle with Sakiri.
The most surprising piece of news? Easy, I would never have believed
that Sakiri tackled in training!
The Roberts deal looks like good business given that he didn't want
to play for us, and Megson's comeback to JR's snipe at Lord Gary was
amusing - "This comes from a player who spelt his own name wrong on
his transfer request."
Kinsella appears to be an astute signing as he should bring experience
and leadership into the middle of the park, and he's not a bad player
either!
And so to today's game. I would've taken a point beforehand, and particularly
when Hulse was sent off. However, in the second half, the commentary
suggested that we were on top when Burnley scored, but we did well
to pull a goal back so quickly.
Assuming Hulse's red card stands, his suspension could lead to Dichio
being recalled from Millwall - the loan move seems to have done him
good as he scored twice today.
We have a two week break now before we welcome Watford to the Hawthorns,
so that should give time for Kinsella to settle into the squad, and
maybe to sign another player?
