1st February 2004: Strikers abound at the Hawthorns thanks to two acquisitions this week, and the two stikers who were available beforehand both produced excellent performance to dispatch Watford.

Lee Hughes's performance was particularly pleasing given his current personal situation - his goal was superb. It was particularly galling knowing that it could be one of his last performances in a Baggies shirt.

If that does prove to be the case, we are at least left with a good many choices up front. Horsfield is finally looking like the £1 million pound striker we bought with three top-notch performances. Hulse and Dobie will be available again in a few weeks and both have proved that they are capable of scoring goals. Dichio's second loan move of the season suggests that he is not in Megson's long term plans, and I would be surprised to see him in an Albion shirt again.

Delroy Facey had little opportunity in the Premiership at Bolton although did manage to score two goals from one start and nine substitute appearances, which is favourable when compared to Jason Roberts! He also managed 5 goals in 12+2 for Burnley, which is a good return in a struggling side, and his strength and pace are certainly what Albion are looking for.

Little is known of Morten Skoubo in England, but his track record is impressive. His scoring record in Denmark was excellent and after a big money move to Borussia Muchengladbach (around two million euro), a change of coach saw him frozen out. He is desperate to make the Danish squad for Euro 2004 and should settle in more easily with fellow hopeful Thomas Gaardsoe in the squad. A loan deal until the end of the season with an option for another season is a no lose situation for the Baggies, and it could prove to be an astute move.

It took a while, but Megson and Peace appear to have come up with the goods.

The only down point to the week is the news that Koumas had a knee operation last week - something the club managed to keep very quiet. It's apparently not long term, but there's no indication as to when he will be back. But at least were still picking up points without him.
