7th March 2004: Back on track
with a good solid display of the sort that must be repeated in the
next eleven games. Wigan and West Ham slipped up yesterday leaving
the Baggies seven points clear of third place, although Norwich's
win over Ipswich today has re-established their three point lead.
Every game is crucial now, and Crewe's win at Wigan showed that they
will present a tough test next week, but we know by now that no games
can be taken for granted.
The return to 3-5-2 at home yesterday was a little unexpected but
it worked well with all five of the midfielders working hard and,
more importantly, getting forward. Even Robinson was chasing down
the Coventry back four at times, and it showed how important it is
for them to get forward when Kinsella found himself with the ball
at his feet in the six yard box for the third goal.
The only slight worry was that we seemed to stop playing after the
first goal, although Coventry did step up the pace. Credit must be
given to the Sky Blues as they never stopped playing, and the fact
that we had to wait for injury time for their only shot on goal was
a credit to how the Albion back three performed.
A satisfying game.
