28th March 2004: Another three
points thanks to Albion's staying power which bodes well for the remainder
of the season. With Norwich and Sunderland also winning, it was important
to keep the winning run going. Another game less to play means that
Sunderland have less opportunity to make up the gap. The Blades' defeat
at Cardiff all but ends their hopes of finishing in the top two (shame!)
and with Millwall and West Ham ten points behind, I think that Sunderland
are the only real challengers.
If we can win at Ipswich next Sunday when Sunderland's attentions
will turn to the FA Cup, it'll put that little bit more pressure on
them as they play another of their games in hand (at Wimbledon) next
Tuesday before facing Sheffield United on the following Friday. I'll
be backing them to beat Millwall because, whatever players may say
about promotion being more important, sub-consciously they'll be wanting
to avoid getting injured before an FA Cup final and that can only
be to our advantage.
Irrespective of what Sunderland do, promotion is ours for the taking.
We may not be playing the best football, but we seem to have hit a
run of form at exactly the right time, much like two years ago.
Come on you Baggies!!
