7th November 2004: Another eventful
day for the Albion as they are held at St Mary's, Earnie opens is
Albion account and Glenn Hoddle is officially ruled out of the running
for the post as our new manager.
The draw at Southampton was disappointing given the circumstances,
Earnie's brace was very encouraging, and I'm not talking dental here,
and the news about Hoddle is somewhere in between. There was always
a nagging doubt about his man-management skills and his long term
commitment to the club, and it now seems that the reported difficulties
over contract terms may have been correct.
It leaves the door open for Bryan Robson as the most likely candidate,
although I suppose that the likes of Micky Adams and John Gregory
are still in the running.
Whatever the decision, I believe it needs to be made in the early
part of the week so the club can settle down and get on with the business
of trying to secure our Premiership status.
