11th November 2004: So Kanu was
upset about Megson's departure? Kanu obviously liked Megson enough
to join the Baggies in the summer, but I've heard reports that he
didn't particularly enjoy is constant bawling from the touchline,
so I'm not sure how much this story has been spun by the press. Unless
a player has got on the wrong side of a manager, he will always find
a change of manager an unsettling time - it could well be some innocent
comments that have been taken out of context, or there maybe some
truth to it - who knows?
Nonetheless, saying that Robson is in a battle to keep Kanu is a little
over the top - he signed a three year contract so he's going nowhere
without the club's agreement. That story came from Kanu admitting
that he had received offers from other clubs, not that he was thinking
of taking one!
Andy Johnson retires from international football - he's obviously
trying to show his commitment to the cause for the benefit of the
new manager. Sorry, AJ, your commitment has never been in doubt, just
your ability. Maybe he is just saving himself the embarrassment of
being dropped from the Welsh squad once he loses his place in the
Albion side. Or maybe Robson and Pearson can make him a better player....?
