On
21st April 2002, West Bromwich Albion achieved promotion to play
in the top flight of the English game for the first time in 16 years.
Paul Thompson and Gary Megson transformed an ailing club on the
brink of Second Division football into one that will welcome the
best players in the world to their home in the next twelve months.
Paul Thompson's subsequent resignation and further boardroom bickering
was not the best way to prepare for the new season, but Peace broke
out eventually.
