Two
years and three days after Albion's first promotion to the Premiership,
they did it for the second time, on 24th April 2004. This time,
there were four games still to play and the defining moment actually
took place up the M6 at Wigan when the referee blew the final whistle
in their game against Sunderland.
It was a very different promotion to the one two years earlier.
This time, Albion were expected to go up and the pressure was on
from the first game. In some ways, it makes it a more impressive
achievement and Jeremy Peace, Gary Megson and the squad deserve
great praise.
This time, however, the Albion fans are expecting the club to make
a much better fist of staying in the best league in the world.
But for the time being, cast your eyes over some words and pictures
celebrating another great season at the Hawthorns.
