I didn't travel to Victoria Park to see what was apparently an unconvincing
victory in the Carling Cup. Hartlepool took the lead in half-time
stoppage time (it's becoming a habit for the Baggies to concede
in added time - 3 in 3 games) from the spot after N'Dour was "harshly"
adjudged to have handballed. In the second half, Albion were struggling
when Westwood was dismissed for a professional foul on Dobie - again
harsh according to the BBC Radio 5 reporter at least. Clement scored
from the resulting free-kick and Hulse got the winner with nine
minutes remaining.
It seems like another case of playing poorly but winning - it won't
last for ever...
